  A noble knight battles a wicked witch in a bid to save humanity from an ancient evil in this supernatural thriller starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman. Upon returning to his home in Europe, crusading knight Behmen (Cage) finds his faith beginning to falter due to the brutality he's witnessed on the battlefield. The Black Plague has decimated the countryside, forcing Behmen and his loyal companion, Felson (Perlman), to seek sustenance and supplies at the Palace of Marburg. After reading reviews and commentary across the internet, my wife and I almost decided to wait for DVD. However, we decided to take a chance anyway. We were pleasantly surprised by the film. The storyline was good, with a couple slight twists to it. The movie was by no means at the level of LOTR, Avatar, or Underworld, but it was enjoyable to watch on the big screen.

I was rather discouraged by some of the reviews on this movie. I had hopes though and they definitely led me into the right theatre. Nicolas Cage isn't particularly my favorite actor or by any means the person I would cast for this film but it really wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. I saw this one in Arclight meaning I paid more to see it and frankly, I liked it a HELL of a lot more than I even like the latest Harry Potter (wasn't that a damn joke). If you're not into "godly" movies this one probably isn't going to be your cup of tea. I certainly am not into those types of movies but I love anything that looks even remotely scary, ie, the witch. As for the movie itself it had a decent plot. Somewhat typical and rather predictable but nothing horrific. Basically the movie is as described in the summary. And as Todd has written below, not to undermine him by any means, she is NOT the devil but instead a demon. All in all I was happy walking away from this movie. :]

I saw it last nite and really liked it, I dont think it deserves some of the reviews it has gotten from others. Very entertaining.
